Insurance & Liability
At RentNow, we prioritize safety and clarity for both renters and hosts. This Insurance and Liability Policy outlines the responsibilities and coverage provided in case of damages, accidents, or other issues that may arise during a rental period.
1. Insurance Requirements
– For Hosts: Hosts are responsible for ensuring that their vehicle or property is adequately insured and complies with local laws and regulations. RentNow does not provide insurance for vehicles or properties listed on our platform.
– For Renters: Renters are required to have a valid driving license (for vehicle rentals) and comply with any applicable insurance requirements as set by the host or local authorities. Renters should confirm coverage with the host before the rental period begins.
2. Liability Coverage
– Hosts: Hosts are liable for ensuring their vehicle or property is in safe and operational condition before the rental period begins. Hosts are responsible for any claims related to the condition of the vehicle or property, including but not limited to mechanical issues, property damage, or personal injury.
– Renters: Renters are liable for any damages or incidents caused by misuse, negligence, or violation of the rental agreement during the rental period. In such cases, the renter is responsible for any repair costs, fines, or penalties.
3. Damage Deposits
– Security Deposits: Hosts may require a security deposit to cover potential damages. Renters will be notified of the deposit amount before confirming the reservation. Security deposits will be refunded at the end of the rental period, provided there are no damages, missing items, or other issues.
– Damage Claims: If a host claims damages, the cost of repairs may be deducted from the security deposit. Both parties are encouraged to document the condition of the vehicle or property before and after the rental period.
4. Accidents & Incidents
– Renters: In the event of an accident or significant damage, renters must immediately inform the host and local authorities (where necessary). Renters are responsible for covering any associated costs not covered by insurance.
– Hosts: Hosts should provide clear instructions for handling accidents, including contact details and insurance procedures. Hosts are responsible for assisting renters in navigating the claims process if needed.
5. Third-Party Claims
– RentNow is a facilitator and is not liable for any disputes or claims arising between renters and hosts. Any issues regarding insurance claims, damages, or liability must be resolved between the renter and host, though RentNow may assist in facilitating communication.
6. Dispute Resolution
– In Case of Disagreement: If a disagreement arises regarding damages or liability, RentNow encourages both parties to resolve the matter through direct communication. If no resolution is reached, legal action may be taken as per local laws and regulations.
7. Changes to This Policy
– RentNow reserves the right to update or modify this Insurance & Liability Policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated via the platform and will apply to future rentals after the updated policy is posted.
